DHRCU is the Douglas Hospital Research Centre Union for the research employees.

We signed our first collective agreement for research employees with the Douglas Hospital Research Centre in December 2019.

DHRCU is local 17757 of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

Sophie Alarie
President

Sophie Alarie has acquired solid experience as a professional and research coordinator on drug use or mental health, from 1993 to 2020 in various research centers including the International Center for Comparative Criminology (CICC), Recherche et intervention sur les substances psychoactives- Québec (RISQ), le Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Douglas Hospital Research Center, the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM).
At the same time, she held the position of Assistant of the Director at the International Forum of Public Universities (IFPU) from 2009 to 2013 before working on the evaluation of the implementation of the Drug Treatment Program of the Quebec Courts from 2012 to 2014, then to the evaluation of the implementation of the Réseau infirmier, un partenaire de soin (RIUPS), in 2015 and 2016. Concurrently to her research career, since 2010, Sophie Alarie worked in the recovery and optimization of private companies. She acted as a coach, negotiator, manager and administrator.
She is currently coordinating the development of population-based mental health research and the development of a biological material bank at the Douglas Hospital Research Center.

Anne-Marie Arel-Dubeau
Vice-President

Anne-Marie completed a B. Sc in medical biology and graduated from a M.Sc. in cellular and molecular biology - neuroscience profile - at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. She then worked as a Microbiology QC Technician for a pharmaceutical company in Montreal, where she acquired rigorous skills in documentation, equipment maintenance, hygiene and safety. In 2017, she went back to academic research and started a new position as Research Assistant in Dr. Michael Meaney’s laboratory at IUSMD, which she still occupies to this day. Since, she has contributed to the coordination and execution of more than ten important human research projects in collaboration with laboratories around the globe and implicating thousands of participants. Her rigorous work ethic, knowledge and versatility led her to new responsibilities, and she now accomplishes management and maintenance tasks in the laboratories and for the equipment. Active in her community, Anne-Marie also uses her free time to help organize fundraising events which benefit diverse charities aimed at helping people with mental health disabilities.
